About Us Shertech Pharmacy was independently started in Greenville, SC in October of 1991 by Rick & Karen Sheriff. Rick Sheriff graduated from Purdue University’s first nuclear pharmacy class and gained his knowledge and experience by managing nuclear pharmacies across the south. Shertech began as a nuclear pharmacy servicing local hospitals and outpatient clinics with radiopharmaceuticals. The staff of nuclear pharmacists and their team supported clients by providing clinical information, radiation safety training, waste disposal services and other regulatory assistance. Along with radiopharmaceuticals, Shertech specialized in customer service. From our 24 hour service 365 days a year, pharmacist consultations, and special projects or events, Shertech’s business has grown along with the upstate region on South Carolina.
We can custom make patient specific doses by altering the dosage form or dosage strength to meet the needs of our patients. Customers can find relief, we specialize in Bio-Identical Hormones, Pain Management, Dermatology, Sports Injuries, and Wound Care. We also provide unique and flavored solutions for any of your Pediatrics and Veterinary needs. At Shertech our compounding pharmacists are highly trained and certified to carefully blend these custom doses for you and your loved one. Our custom doses can be tailored to fit any size, shape, strength, or specific need. We only use the highest pharmaceutical grade materials to provide the best quality product to our patients. All of our compounding facilities are fully equipped with sterile Laminar-flow hood and containment units for compounding injectables along with a dry powder hood used for compounding potentially hazardous substances. Shertech has expanded our family to serve yours even better. In 2001, Shertech opened a third location in Asheville, NC. Each of our expansions have been due to the requests of local hospitals and physicians asking us to provide that same great service to their local community. The Asheville location is also a dual purpose facility serving customers in nuclear pharmacy and compounding pharmacy. In 2009 Asheville location had grown beyond its current building capabilities and opened with a new facility containing a state-of-the-art laboratory constructed completely of stainless steel, non-porous surfaces, and clean-room filtrations systems in compliance with USP<797> and <795> sterility regulations. Unlike our Spartanburg facility, our Asheville location provides a retail store front with a specialty selected line of Herbal/Vitamin supplements and cosmeceuticals to provide complete care for our patients. With our focus on customer service, we believe that no two patients are the same and may need to alter the dosage form of their medication and/or tailor the dosage strength to meet a need. The Shertech Pharmacy staff is here to provide that service to you and much more. Ask how we can help you. Continuing our growth into 2004, we opened Shertech Laboratories. This unique facility boasts a highly technical and scientifically advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Cyclotron and a separate state of the art manufacturing facility that follows Good Manufacturing Practices as regulated by the FDA. We build the first and only cyclotron is the region. Our Cyclotron produces radionuclides for a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan. These radionuclides are used in PET Scans as a medical diagnostic procedure in hospitals, outpatient facilities, and mobile imaging services. In order to produce a radioactive particle we use a machine called a cyclotron. The cyclotron has electrodes in a vacuum chamber, with a narrow gap between the two poles of a large magnet. The ability of PET imaging as a single study to more accurately diagnose and therapeutically stage patients than conventional methods continues to drive this radiology modality into the future.PET scans assist physicians in the listed primary areas: ·Early detection of lesions not visible by CT or MRI ·Evaluation of lesions treated with chemo or radiation therapy ·Differentiation between inactive necrotic tissue, scarring, or cancer lesions ·Characterization of lesions that are clinically indeterminate on x-ray images ·Early Alzheimer’s diagnosis Our manufacturing facility allows Shertech to produce and mix products on a large scale by delivering over a ton of product per batch. We are capable of producing pastes, creams, ointments, lotions, liquids and dry powders then package them in tubes, bottles, jars and cartons. We can place finished goods in shipping cartons, display units or specialty packages. Our process uses the batch method with traceable results from the raw material and component manufacturers to the retail level of product distribution. The mixing equipment is temperature controlled and can vary from 65°F to 180°F to aid in dissolution/mixing and for product consistency and protection. A vacuum can be added to prevent incorporation of small air bubbles into the product. Product transfer is accomplished through Nitrogen push, which provides ideal product capture with little waste. The bottle filler and the tube filler operate to deliver 12,000 containers in an 8-hour shift. We mix items such as cosmetics, Over-the-Counter drugs, and specialty items. For large companies requiring batch testing to small business, Shertech Laboratories is constantly following new ideas and leads to produce new innovative products. Have that next breakthrough idea or interested in manufacturing your natural remedy? Feel free to contact us at 864-661-1001. During the marketing of Shertech Laboratory products (especially PET radiopharmaceuticals), we were again requested by customers in the Charlotte, NC area if Shertech Pharmacy service could be provided on a local basis. In 2006, we opened our first pharmacy to provide both low energy radiopharmaceuticals and high energy PET products directly to the Charlotte area. This facility is also a state-of-the-art laboratory, fully USP <797> and <795> compliant with the Board of Pharmacy. Shertech Pharmacy has been able to partner with customers in the molecular imaging business and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the biomarker development area. This collaboration placed Shertech in the clinical research program for many new and exciting compounds for nuclear medicine. Our pharmaceutical team has the experience and training to meet these new challenges and expand molecular diagnostics safely to improve patient care. Delivery of our products and services that exceed expectations is a Shertech Pharmacy business principal from which we build upon. We strive everyday to build a lasting relationship with our customers. Ask how we can influence your day to day practice with our time critical products. As Shertech nears 15 years of service, the focus has remained the same through the years.
